California State Assembly Member Das Williams announced his selection of Trikke Tech, Inc. as the 2011 Small Business of the Year in his district 35, which includes most of Santa Barbara County and part of Ventura County.
Gildo Beleski, Trikke Tech’s Chairman and CTO, and CEO John Simpson will be headed to Sacramento in early June to show California lawmakers the unique electric and human powered three-wheeled vehicles that inspired the honors.
“When you are so singularly focused on the day-to-day, you certainly don’t expect something like this to happen,” said Simpson. “Out of all the amazing small businesses in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, it is a real honor to be singled out. We’re proud that Assembly Member Williams chose us, and we know that our green electric vehicles have the potential to contribute greatly to reducing emissions and our use of oil. As well, we recognize that our body-propelled products are helping people of all ages get healthy, lose weight and rehabilitate from injuries - in school PE programs and local neighborhoods. We all want a healthier, happier, less congested community, and hopefully, the people of Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties will be proud that Trikke is representing District 35 this year.”
At a time when there is mounting pressure to find cleaner, more sustainable ways to get around, Trikke Tech is responsible for the introduction of its innovative, user-friendly and affordable Trikke electric vehicles.
Additionally, with the epidemic of obesity weighing heavily on our general population and taxing our healthcare system, the Trikke body-propelled three wheelers offer a fun and exhilarating option for weight loss and full-body fitness in a low-impact way that never gets boring.
The Trikke is making a difference in everything from school PE programs to the lives of seniors. At 85-years-young, President Jimmy Carter is a fan and was recently shown riding a Trikke on 60 Minutes, praising its no-impact, full-body workout benefits.
When Assembly Member Das Williams was asked why he chose Trikke Tech, he responded, “We all need to work towards contributing to a greener future, and it’s innovative companies like Trikke Tech that are helping to make a real difference. I have been personally riding one of their electric vehicles for some time now, and it has radically reduced my automotive use. So many people can benefit from adopting similar habits and helping to reduce oil consumption and emissions at the same time. I can see Trikke Tech becoming a major employer in our district in the near future. It comes down to our local small business successes like Trikke Tech that will help drive our economy and improve our quality of life.”
In the Assembly, Mr. Williams is focused on reforming the state budget process, ensuring that California children have access to a world class education, fixing the state’s dysfunctional healthcare system, and protecting the environment, primarily through reducing our state’s reliance on oil and coal.
