Mel McNair is a surfer, a skier, and a rocket scientist. And a very busy woman. It took some time, but eventually, she had a Sunday afternoon free and decided to accept me and my wife Sally’s invitation to try the Trikke.
Sally and I took Mel to the street about half block away from our home where we once taught ourselves to carve. The nice thing about the area is its nice, gentle slope, both uphill and downhill. In those early days, my wife and I would walk to the top and carve down, but Mel was determined to ride uphill, as well as down. She did a few pushes to get going up but generally tried to carve up as much as possible. After an hour and a half, she was pleasantly tired from the exercise and recharged from the rigors of her day, namely dealing with two teenage kids.
Sally and I hope to have a follow-up ride with Mel when her schedule and the weather permit. It’s very satisfying to see someone take to the Trikke carve so easily and with such enthusiasm. It always helps to relax into the carve.
