Soaked Cal: last Trikke ride of 2012 rained out in Los Angeles [video]

The few, the brave, the wet.

Normally a Trikke rider’s paradise, Southern California was far from it today. The reason: rain, which just so happened to soak the beaches of LA’s South Bay at the exact same time So Cal carvers began assembling for the year’s twelfth and final Last Saturday of the Month Ride.

Jason Hilton came prepared.

The showers, which were also cold, in effect, served as a cold shower for the event, which last year attracted 22 riders.

Still, at least a dozen diehards descended on Miramar Park this morning, hoping to squeeze in some carving before the rains came. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other ideas and shortly before what would normally be time for group photos, the downpour was on.

The group photo did take place, with raindrops pelting camera lenses, and so did a little riding around the parking lot, if nothing else, to be counted in the Global LSM Report. There was even some hill climbing, but eventually the rain reigned.

After breakfast for eleven at the Redondo Beach Cafe — where many shared their fondest memories from a year’s worth of group rides — the sun came out, but the cold shower had already done its thing. For the first time ever, the So Cal LSM Ride was all washed up.
