TrikkeWorld presents Trikke Academy Tuesdays, featuring a weekly dose of news and other academia from the Trikke Academy, the institution where Trikke Trainers are made and Riding Skkools are in session.
As part of the recently announce price increase for its seminars, the Trikke Academy has carved up quite a few discounts for attendees, one of which is a two-tiered scholarship for seniors: those over age 55 are eligible for a $150 scholarship, while those over age $65 are eligible for a $200 scholarship.
According to Academy Director Fred Welch, the reason for the reduced tuition rate is simple:
“Our main demographic as a company is ages 40-70, so we’re basically reaching out to a solid part of our constituency.”
A constituency, says Welch, that does better with Trikke Trainers who are also peers:
“Seniors are way more apt to listen to another senior say, ‘Hey, give it a try. If I can do it, you can do it,’ rather than hearing it from a 25-year-old.”
And there’s another reason why having senior trainers makes sense: time.
“A lot of retired folks turn their passions towards more personal pursuits once they retire,” says Welch. “We’re hoping that more and more seniors will devote some of that time to Trikke.”
