Sixteen So Cal carvers came together in Orange County on Sunday, putting their unique, three-wheel stamp on another great trail in the southern half of the Golden State.

The occasion was the first-ever Newport Back Bay Trikke Ride on July 24th in Newport Beach, CA, located fifty miles south of Los Angeles.

The thirteen-mile escapade traveled around the picturesque, inland delta from sea-level to hilltop, serving up some beautiful natural scenery and those always-fun downhill runs.

For some, the day harkened back to a time when birds and breezes were the main attraction of a day at the park, especially during the trek through the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve.

Post-ride, many of the attendees convened for pizza and rumor has it, beer.

Carvers came from as far away as Ventura and Canyon Country, happy to be vital cogs in a So Cal summer that has seen an unprecedented number of group rides in three counties (LA, Orange and Ventura).

The Newport Back Bay Trikke Ride was organized by Lisa Hoolihan of Trikke OC. Hoolihan is also the force behind the fabled Aliso Creek Endurance Ride.
