Beginning with its last two seminars of 2012, the Trikke Academy has announced the creation of a new level of certification, different than that of Trikke Trainer. The new designation: Academy Associate, and if a degree at a two-year college comes to mind, the analogy isn’t far off.
Academy Associates must complete a six-hour Associate Clinikk, which could be viewed as a sort of Trikke Academy seminar lite. The course load includes three hours of riding instruction, followed by three hours of classroom time, where students are schooled on marketing and a “nice dash of tech,” according to the Trikke Academy website, which also states: “That’s a full day of training, so that you can speak confidently and competently about the Trikke brand of vehicles.”
While Associates won’t be authorized by Trikke to offer riding lessons, they can show the curious how to ride, according to Ann Pirone, Academy coordinator:
“They’re not trained to teach people how to ride and they’re not certified by Trikke as trainers, but we know people are already out there, giving the periodic demo or showing their buddy how to make it go. We don’t want to stop that but we can’t vouch for them as trainers.”
However, Associates will receive a 10% referral fee for all sales they generate; and within one year of certification, Associates can apply their entire tuition fee toward tuition at an Academy seminar. Much in the way one’s two-year college degree earns one credit toward a four-year degree.
The Associates program begins in earnest with the Trikke Academy’s final two weekend gatherings of the year, in Charleston, South Carolina in September, and Las Vegas in October (see dates below).
