Trikke riders the world over hitting the trails this weekend
Hi, folks. It’s One Wing Wong (aka Double Dub) with another report on the global LSM movement, aka the Last Saturday of the Month Ride craze that’s becoming a worldwide phenomenon. For me, life’s been a little crazy. I’ve been laid up with a shoulder injury, and some other fun happenings, but I’m happy to report: the LSM is movin’ strong:
Magnus Aycox and the South Swedish Trikke Riders have committed to hosting LSM Rides, just as soon as the snow melts! And Bruce Weston and the Michigan Carvers have scheduled an LSM event in May on the Chicago waterfront. Bruce said they would plan more LSM rides as soon as their weather (snow!) clears up. I’ve also been in contact with others, who, at this time, are unable to commit to hosting a group ride. All I ask: if you’re out caving, please let us know.
OK, so who’s in? These are the LSMs scheduled for the last Saturday (or Sunday) of February:
Portland Trikke Riders will be at Creston Park in Oregon (for info, go here).
My Trikke Club will be at Tammany Trace in Louisiana (for info, go here). Joining them are the folks from Florida’s Trikke Squad, who agreed the two clubs should hit this trail together. (See Facebook event page here). Have a great time!
Margo’s Trikkers Unlimited will be carving it up at Reid Park in Tucson, Arizona (info here).
Trikke Riders of Pennsylvania are scheduled to be at Warminster Park in Wayne, PA., (info here).
New England Trikkers’ NETSkki LSM is set to carve Whaleback Mountain in Enfield, New Hampshire, from 8:30am – 4:00pm
And here’s hoping Darrick Bruyn and Central Oregon Trikke will be able to get up to Hoodoo Ski area with others to add to our Carver count!
I haven’t been able to contact Trikke Hong Kong as of press time, but if I know those guys, they’ll have another fantastic video for us, if they’re able to get together. I’ll update this on the Sweet Spot Annex on Facebook when the word comes in.
Trikke Indonesia will again host their LSM on the last Sunday. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to share this, but there are good big things happening there.
On the home front, Quincy and Monica Jeffries of the So Cal Carvers Club has teamed up with SouthBay Trikke and TrikkeWorld for this month’s Southern California LSM in the Santa Clarita Valley. This is a full blown event for Trikkes, bikes, rollers and joggers (see Facebook event page here). The LSM in the SCV was promoted in a Trikke demo at a local LA Fitness, which resulted in an invite to the city’s upcoming Earth Arbor Day Celebration.
In their effort to share their passion that is Trikke, Quincy and Monica also contacted Coca-Cola and others for sponsorship (can you say, free Dr. Pepper t-shirts!). Needless to say, this dynamic due has done an awesome job getting this ride together. We’re expecting a large number of carvers, not because of the hoopla but because the Jeffries are awesome hosts and the Santa Clarita Valley has some beautiful trails.
And this just in: Hawaii Trikkers will be carving around in paradise on Sundays, and the movement goes down under! Melbourne, Australia, will be the sight of an LSM this Saturday, with four riders scheduled to be there, their largest group yet, according to Robert Billing of the Trikke Australia group on Facebook. Hey, that’s how many attended the first-ever LSM in So Cal. A few months later, 45 carvers showed up. A good sign of things to come for Australia?
If you’re out there carving next Saturday (or Sunday), like many have done before, sign on to the Sweet Spot Annex and let us know!
Carve the day! Thug every moment!
