A story that will blow you away
Feel the need for more speed on your Trikke? So did Geege Ferretjans, who came up with an idea you probably won’t want to try at home, that is, if you value your driving record. Here’s what happened to the Florida carver in 2004, as reported on Trikke Tech’s website under reviews for the T8. Please heed this cautionary tale.
“I was cited for speeding down a highway on a T8 with a leaf blower attached to my back.”
Officer Ben Stein was sitting in the parking lot of Dunkin’ Donuts when he saw the spectacle. “I could not believe it,” said Officer Stein. “This guy is flying down the highway, passing cars on a three-wheeled skateboard with handlebars. He had a leaf blower strapped to his back and was using it like a jet engine. I clocked him at 46 mph in a 35 mph zone. Never in my 20 year career have I seen anything like it.”
When reached for comment by TrikkeWorld, Ferretjans said he was just trying to have some fun. “I knew that particular leaf blower could blow air at 250 miles per hour, but I did not think it would get me going that fast! Normally I can cruise at about 15-18 mph.”
Is Ferretjans your typical carver? He loves bombing down hills on his Trikke, has been a skier all his life and is an avid sailor. The next activity he plans to tackle is hang gliding, yet he is always looking out for a steep hill to carve.
“Florida is pretty much flat,” said Ferretjans. “I go to the Home Depot parking lot before they open. Their 10% grade is a lot of fun.”
Another favorite incline of his allows him to “trikke down the hill and take the local bus back up the hill. I do that a couple of times, using the bus as a ski lift.”
When Ferretjans started trikking, he was more discouraged than adventurous. “The first three days were very frustrating. I was about to send the thing back, then, bam! I was turning, I was catching on, I was all over that thing.”
So far, the speed demon from the Sunshine State has carved off over 65 pounds. Plus, he was able to forgo taking his blood pressure meds, leading him to conclude, “This thing has literally saved my life.”
To recap, trikking is great for losing weight, but if you strap a leaf blower to your back, you just might get a speeding ticket.
You have been warned.
