CyberTrikke: Cruising the Trikke world on Facebook

Facebook logo

TrikkeWorld presents the second in a series of articles by Trikke Trainer Kevin Purdy on the Trikke community and social media. In this installment, carving Facebook.

As most of you are already aware, the Trikke community is extremely active on Facebook, a great place to share stories, photos, events and opinions. Of all the social media outlets, Facebook is by far the go-to site for most carvers. In fact, with over a billion users, Facebook is the site of choice for oodles of folks.

Most people have personal Facebook profiles and enjoy perusing the profiles of other Trikke aficionados, but the larger-scale social interaction happens on Facebook pages and in Facebook groups. So what are the Trikke Facebook sites of choice for the discerning web surfer? Let’s take a Trikke tour of the most popular social network and look at some of the offerings.

TrikkeWorld Page

Of course one of our favorite pages is TrikkeWorld on FaceBook. With frequent updates and lots of user input, you’ll find great news and info on everything Trikke. Feel free to leave comments, questions and updates on this all-important CyberTrikke outlet.

Skki Inn Event Page

One of the most recent Trikke Facebook additions is an events page for the 2013 Skki Inn. Everything you ever wanted to know about this year’s event in Oregon is listed here along with a (partial) list of the anticipated participants and even mug shots of those who have not yet committed to attending but would certainly like to.

Sweet Spot Annex and Trikke Academy

Another favorite with the Trikke gang is TrikkeWorld’s Sweet Spot Annex on Facebook. As with most Facebook pages, the Annex includes a news feed, messages, events and photos. It’s just one more great way to get your Trikke fix when you can’t be out carving.

And of course there’s the Trikke Academy group, the place to go before you attend a Trikke Academy, while you’re attending a Trikke Academy, after you attend a Trikke Academy or when you just want a nostalgic buzz from your formative years as a Trikke novice under the tender tutelage of Fred [Welch] and Ann {Pirone]. (Aaaahhh, those were the days, my friends!!)  (-:

Global LSM Check-ins and Meetup & Trikke

These two sites started by passionate riders offer even more ways to socialize with other Trikke people on Facebook. Global LSM Check-in’s revolves around the global Last Saturday/Sunday of the Month Ride movement, while Meetup & Trikke is a good place to, you guessed it, get together with other riders and ride.

Trikke Travel and Trailsnet

Last but not least are two of my personal favorites and not just because I have a personal stake in them! But first, I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Ssssshhhhh!! You’re going to be the first to know this one. Lean in real close, so I can whisper it in your ear. TRIKKE TRAVEL IS ON THE WAY!!!! So there’s got to be a Trikke Travel Page on Facebook. Of course there is but, since it’s the new kid on the block, it’s feeling kind of lonely and unloved. So hop on over and give it a big ol’ Trikke Like. It’s the cyber-group-hug that just keeps on giving. There now, don’t you feel all warm and fuzzy.

And last, but certainly not least… you knew it was coming… where would we be without trails to ride our Trikkes on? Squished like so many insects all over the roads of America, that’s where. So hop on over to the Facebook Trailsnet Page;while you’re at it, share your favorite Trikke Trail story. And whilst you’re there, how about sharin’ the love? For each like, an angel gets his wings.  (What does Zuzu Bailey know? Every time a bell rings? That’s just plain crazy!!)

Now that you’re all experts on Facebook, what should we tackle next? How about Twitter?
