An Aussie in San Francisco [video]

Douglass Weymouth rides his Trikke

Douglass Weymouth

In this installment of Douguss Amonguss, Santa Cruz, Calif. Trikke Trainer Douglass Weymouth rides with a man from Down Under who came “up over” to the U.S. for a Trikke Tour, of sorts.

Robert Billing of Trikke Australia made his maiden voyage to the USA this summer, first visiting Southern California, where he participated in the So Cal July LSM, then making his way to Northern California, where we met up for Sunday Streets in The Mission in San Francisco. After we were joined by Nor Cal riders Sissie Lola and Harold Woodward, we went for a carving cruise in the streets, which were off-limits to automobiles.

During his time in the Bay Area, Robert was much more adventurous than I had anticipated. He rode his trusty T8 all the way from North Beach to The Mission, then proceeded to cross the Golden Gate Bridge. Then he checked out Lombard Street, the world’s crookedest street, on his T-8.

It was a short but sweet visit with Robert, who lives in Hazelwood, Victoria, which is 90 miles from Melbourne. I missed the opportunity to video him on his later rides and now I wish had tagged along.

  1. Ha; ““up over” to the U.S. “, has a nice ring to it. Wonder where I’ve heard that before? Glad Robert was able to find some ‘Trikke Family’ to share his experience with! }
