A San Francisco treat: Sunday carving with Trikke friends

graphicI first met Mark Simons and Barbara Moy when my wife Sally and I participated in our first-ever group ride (the Iron Horse Trail in San Francisco’s East Bay in 2009). We then met up later that year in the Embarcadero, our first time riding in Sunday Streets San Francisco. Since then, Sally and I take our Trikkes to the City by the Bay as often as possible.

Barbara lives and works in San Francisco and has been a dedicated rider on the Embarcadero for many years. Mark lives in the East Bay and gets to San Francisco on a regular basis. The Embarcadero is a nice place to ride Trikkes. It’s flat and has nice, wide sidewalks that are crowded most of the time; but if you pick your area and time of day, they can be quite uncrowded. It had been awhile since I last rode with Barbara and Mark, so I asked if they’d like to ride the Sunday Streets event that connected the Bayview with the Embarcadero and they agreed.

We started out at AT&T Park, home of the world champion San Francisco Giants, and rode south to the Bayview. The wind was pretty strong, but we had a nice ride and I look forward to more in the area in the near future.
