City Councilwoman Rae Gabelich Tries a Trikke. She Likes It!

The relationship between the three-wheel wonder known as the Trikke and the city of Long Beach, CA, just got a little friendlier after Mayor Bob Foster and Councilwoman Rae Gabelich were introduced to yet another bike-like alternative for the most bike friendly city in America. [See the slideshow at the end of this story.]

The meeting took place in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at a press conference highlighting the city’s Bike Friendly Districts, designated areas where local businesses and residents are encouraged to cycle their way to discounts, better health and a more active community.

Three-Wheel Wonder Gaining Ground in Southeast Asia

What could be better than riding a Trikke on a tropical island? Try being the one who introduced the joyride of the 21st century to a country comprised of more than 17,000 tropical islands with a combined population of 238 million.

That distinction belongs to Edwargo Setjadiningrat, whose own carving journey began upon seeing a Trikke infomercial while visiting San Francisco in 2007. Three years later, in January, 2010, he stood on a Trikke for the very first time. By the end of the year, Trikke had met Indonesia, and vice versa.

Slideshow Showcases Largest Group Ride Ever in So Cal

Saturday, May 28, 2011, was a day to remember for forty-five trikkers who came together for the Last Saturday of the Month Ride in Long Beach, setting a new attendance record for a group Trikke ride in Southern California. [See the slideshow at the end of this story.]

Sponsored by TrikkeWorld Magazine, Long Beach Trikkers and SouthBay Trikke (official local dealer of TrikkeWorld), the morning began with a Warm Up to the Carve Up, where riders honed their riding skills in a workshop run by Fred Welch, director of the Trikke Academy.

Maybe it’s the spiral climb to the top of the park’s hill, where a small clearing surrounds the Lighthouse, offering breath-taking views of the city’s coastal jewels—the Queen Mary, the downtown skyline, the yachts in Rainbow Harbor. [See video after the break.]

Record Attendance at Southern California Trikke Ride

They Came, They Carved, They Conquered

A total of 45 So Cal carvers rocked and rolled their way along the Pacific Coast during today’s Last Saturday of the Month Ride in Long Beach, setting a new attendance record for a group Trikke ride in Southern California.

The May edition of the LSM Ride, sponsored by SouthBay Trikke, Long Beach Trikkers and TrikkeWorld Magazine, signaled the unofficial start of the summer season for the So Cal Trikke Circuit, which includes endurance rides in Orange and Ventura Counties over the next two weekends.
